CALL OR ORDER: Meeting started at 6:10 pm.

OPPORTUNITY FOR RESIDENTS TO SPEAK: Jeff Feldman gave high praise for the race, the racers and the race organizers.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commission reviewed minutes from February 17, 2010.  Jim made a motion to accept the minutes of February 17, 2010, seconded by Tony Hollister.  Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • River Race Recap: It was a beautiful day for racing; we had 34 boats this year: Unicorn Bakery brought a number 3 cake this year.  We need to include them as sponsors next year.  No one turned over this year.
  • Geo-Cacher clean-up: The clean up was on April 27, 2010. Twenty people showed up at Martin Park to clean.  Craig Sutton did a fine job of organizing the clean up. Most of the cleaning was done at Martin Park and along the trails.  Almost every group found a tire.
  • Pratt & Whitney clean-up: about 20 volunteers from P & W came to Labor Field on May 1, 2010.  They were able to clean the park plus prune and rake the trails and board walk this year in about 2 hours.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • Bruce reported that the damage to the trail near Olde Roberts Street still has not been repaired.  Major clean up and repair still needed. Will check with Roger Moss to find out status of claim permitting, work on that area would be attempted on the weekend.
  • CIBA kids are expected to show for the Source to Sea clean up.
  • Paula indicated that we need to find a way to recognize the volunteer groups.  Ken and Dave brought up the idea that thank-you notes from the mayor would be nice.  Jeff liked gift certificates from local restaurants; Cynthia suggested discount coupons to the Science Museum and trips on the river boat; Christine suggested free lunch for P & W volunteers; Tony suggested food, drinks and raffling prizes on the day of the clean ups.
  • Bruce made the motion to spend the $150 designated in our budget, to purchase gratitude gifts not to exceed $20 to be distributed during the clean up events.  The distribution of gifts will be determined during the clean up events.  Ken seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
  • Paula announced that the Commission will be a sponsor of the Mayor’s Walk scheduled for July 22, 2010 at 5 p.m. It will start at the Town Hall and walk to Ecology Drive and back.  They will finish at the Town Green, have dinner and watch that evening’s concert.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Jim to adjourn the meeting seconded by Peter.  Motion carried.  Meeting adjourned at 6:50 pm.
